It’s time for…

The Climate Superstar Challenge!

Tell your teachers about this challenge—you can win $5,000 for classroom tech from Samsung. Laptops! Tablets! Interactive displays! All sorts of really cool stuff to replace any old tech you’re still working with.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: sign up as a class, and complete seven tasks during the month of October. Let NEEF (National Environmental Education Foundation) know you’ve done them, and BAM! You’re in the running to win. But you have to be in it, to win it!

Sign up or share with your teacher, here⬇️

Want More?

It’s hard to find opportunities for the middle-school set (go tweens!) to help global sustainability efforts. But the world desperately needs your help. It’s all a bit overwhelming!

And the good news is this: you don’t have to go it alone. There are contests just like NEEF’s that encourage schools to get involved and change to more sustainable habits by rewarding the school with prizes—like new tech gear. Some, like this one, even provide lessons for your teacher to use that accompany the contest. Those lessons mean less work for your teacher, and can be a very persuasive tool!

Let’s see, free STUFF + good works…seems like a recipe for success.

Telling your teacher about contests means you’ll have an experienced adult helping you navigate the work. It also means you’ll have support recruiting like-minded students who want to change the world. In other words, it’s a built-in team. And who will be at the head of it all? Why, YOU, of course.

Have you ever heard the phrase “Think global, act local?” Think about that for a second: if enough people act locally…the change would be global. And sometimes, starting small is more doable.

You can start small, too. At Tamerlaine, we love when people visit us and get to know our rescued residents. (PS, here’s another thing to tell your teachers about: we do in-person AND virtual tours! Those virtual tours? No charge for schools, just lots of close ups of sniffy little snouts.) Bonding with them is the best way to show people that every animal has its own personality, and that we aren’t all that different. The same is true for getting people to care about our environment. You can encourage friends and family to care more about it by inviting them to spend more time in it. Check out our list of outdoor fun for the whole fam.

But if you’re going to try your hand at $5K in goodies…make sure you register for the NEEF challenge today. It’s coming right up!
